Located in Melbourne’s growing north-west, this vibrant new community hub is designed to bring families together and support early learning as well as family support services.
The Hub includes four purpose built, modern kindergarten rooms, offering 126 places for children, expandable to 192 places as demand grows. It also features two spacious community rooms offering flexible configuration that can be used separately or combined into one large venue for events. The Maternal and Child Health suite comprises two consulting rooms and a dedicated family room, complemented by additional consulting spaces, staff amenities and support facilities arranged around a bright, welcoming central foyer.
Sustainability is at the heart of the design. Natural materials such as rammed earth walls and recycled finishes create a warm, eco-friendly feel, while the structure uses glulam timber for strength and sustainability. Energy efficiency is achieved through intelligent HVAC systems with year-round monitoring. Rainwater is collected and reused for toilets and gardens and a large solar array generates about 50% of the building’s electricity demand. Outside, water-sensitive landscaping creates green, inviting spaces for the community to enjoy.
