Hope Street Youth and Family Services, in collaboration with Melton City Council, delivered this supported crisis response and accommodation service for young people in the City of Melton. Brand Architects was engaged as Principal Design Consultant.
The facility was designed to provide critical accommodation and 24 hour care and wrap around services to young individuals and young families in critical need. It was the charity’s flagship purpose-built First Response Youth Refuge consisting of a communal living building with individual bedroom suites and communal activity spaces, a separate two-bedroom family unit, and a separate support and administration building.
The buildings were connected by the surrounding landscape which features therapeutic and active external areas, within a secure site. Both the buildings and landscaping were designed integrating the principles of trauma-informed care and to work specifically with the service providers programme.
