The facilities at Barry Road Community Activity Centre received a major upgrade via new building extensions, internal refurbishment of existing areas, new car parking, landscaping and improved pedestrian access for the broad range of user groups who occupy the facility. Externally, the sense of entry and presence from Barry Road was dramatically enhanced via a large metallic blue canopy which reaches out to form a shelter for visitors alighting from transport, which envelops a bright yellow brick wall that gently leads occupants into the new main entrance.

Landscaped, secure courtyards provide an external amenity for the designated Program Activity Group (PAG) areas and multi-purpose Community Hall at the rear. The new foyer provides a sense of place for the users of the facility with a warm, welcoming treatment to the floor, wall and ceiling finishes and ambient lighting.

A number of flexible community spaces comprise the building footprint, including large meeting room, PAG area with a commercial kitchen, foyer with accessible amenities, community hall which can be divided into 2 separate function spaces with associated catering kitchen, stage and storage options for the many user groups.
