The upgrade of the Urgent Care facility at Inglewood & Districts Health Service delivers modern, welcoming healthcare spaces designed to enhance the experience of patients, visitors and staff.
Delivered through the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, the project involved staged upgrades to key areas of the existing Acute Services and Administration Building, including reception, nurse stations, treatment areas and patient suites. The works were carefully planned across two construction stages, allowing health services to continue operating throughout the upgrade.
The revitalised facility includes eight acute care rooms with ensuites, improved treatment spaces and more comfortable areas to support patient recovery. The design focuses on creating calm, supportive environments that promote wellbeing while enabling the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
Retaining much of the existing building, the project also introduced targeted upgrades to improve comfort and building performance. New double-glazed windows, enhanced insulation and external improvements help create more energy-efficient spaces that remain comfortable year-round.
Developed in collaboration with the IDHS First Nations Liaison, the project incorporates design elements that strengthen Cultural Safety for First Nations patients, families and staff. Interior finishes, locally sourced artworks from DJAARA, and acoustic panels created in collaboration with artist Willie Weston reference Country and contribute to a calming, healing environment.
The completed upgrade provides contemporary healthcare facilities that better support the needs of the Inglewood community, while creating a more efficient and enjoyable workplace for healthcare staff.
