Donvale Christian College is a co-educational school located on a steep and densely vegetated site within a green wedge zone. As enrolments have grown, the school has committed to long-term planning while preserving the site’s natural beauty.
In 2016, a comprehensive masterplan was developed by Brand Architects following extensive consultation with staff, students, and the broader community. The vision focused on creating a connected campus with dedicated sub-school precincts, replacing outdated buildings with permanent facilities, and overcoming unique site constraints.
The newly completed Senior Hub and STEM Building offers a state-of-the-art, five-storey centre for senior students tailored for 21st-century learning. Replacing four older buildings, the facility houses general classrooms, breakout spaces, collaborative hubs, and the VCE common room, science labs, food technology classrooms, a library, a staff zone, and a rooftop terrace with gardens and panoramic views.
The design of the Senior Hub prioritises accessibility and sustainability. Equitable access is built in at all levels to ensure that every student can participate fully in school life. The building is entirely electric and uses a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system, with minimal energy waste. It is also on track to achieve a 6-star Green Star rating, reflecting the College’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and student wellbeing.
