The project extends the existing 6-court stadium by a further 4 courts with retractable seating, and includes new front-of-house, administrative, community/function, cafe spaces and significantly expands the existing carpark. The redevelopment has been designed to according to GreenStar principles and best practice.
The primary function of the redevelopment is to provide Hobsons Bay and other nearby communities with a range of indoor sports venues, and to attract elite basketball and netball programs and events. The redevelopment is also expected to attract additional visitors to both the facility and the wider community, providing a positive economic benefit.
The indoor courts are sized to accommodate a range of activities including netball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and futsal.
