The public face of one of Victoria’s premier building, electronics and engineering training centres, this building provides teaching and administration spaces and a multipurpose workshop to provide trade training for 15 to 20 year-olds.
The design takes advantage of the adjacent busy road via a curved facade that is designed to change appearance as one passes by, whilst also acting as an environmental filter. The inner façade is sealed and incorporates passive ventilation and natural lighting. A series of planted “lungs” provide filtered light and air to the roadway side of the building with thermal chimneys used to exhaust hot air.
