The Newport Gardens Early Years Centre was completed in 2013 and incorporates a range of community services including four childcare rooms, two kinder rooms, a maternal and child health clinic, a toy library/ multi-purpose room, and a Yooralla consulting suite.

All the childcare rooms open directly out into an inviting landscaped courtyard. The park-like landscape encourages free-flowing experiential play and exploration, separation between age groups is achieved through landscape elements rather than fences.

The design is the result of a comprehensive consultation process with various user groups and the adjacent Primary School.

The project includes a strong environmental component and achieves a ‘Best Practice‘ rating. Its energy consumption is 30% less than required by the Australian Building Code.
