5 Star Green Star – Education Design v1
The complete redevelopment of Holmesglen Institute’s Drummond Street Campus provides state of the art training to the energy and telecommunications industry in the specialised areas of underground cabling, safe work practices, and power transmission. The campus achieved a certified 5 Star Green Star Rating signifying ‘Australian Excellence’ and for providing environmental leadership in all aspects of design and construction.
The motivation for creating a building that achieved a high Green Star certified rating score was not to achieve the score itself, but to provide the best possible learning and working environment. A project like this provides many measurable and unmeasurable benefits to the client, including cost savings resulting from adaptive reuse of items such as furniture, energy expenditure savings, and savings due to improved occupant health and happiness, resulting in fewer days away from work and training.
